::November Windfall Dolls Giveaway :: Meet Melody, a doll for a Hurricane Sandy Family

Upon hearing of the devastation along the East Coast during the past few weeks after Hurricane Sandy's wake, and all of the millions of people affected and displaced from their homes, possibly never to come back we knew we had to make a contribution.

With the Holidays just around the corner we would like to offer up a special gift. We have specially made one of our larger Windfall Dolls just for this giveaway! We usually save our larger dolls for the  seasonal giveaways, but we think this little lady would make some hurricane affected families Holiday extra special.

::Melody:: Meaning music or song.

::A bit about Melody::

Melody is one of our more Ethnic looking dolls. She has a bit deeper colored skin, smooth as honey and equally as warm.

She also has a slight almond shape to her chocolatey brown eyes.  They have  a bit of a sparkle and a wink to them don't you think?

 Her lips are small and thin.  She loves loves loves to sing! She has the sweetest voice you could ever imagine~just the hint of a crack at the high notes, and she always bobs her head to the music.  Music as someone once said is the soundtrack to our lives~Melody will make yours super happy and sweet with her melodies!  Of course you will have to imagine her little voice, but if you sing along with her she will chime right in!

:: The details::

Melody is made using our Waldorf Inspired Pattern... out of interlock, stuffing and wool.

Her dress is handmade as are the rest of her clothes, and one of her favorites! It is made using our dress pattern, but with a 2 inch added flounce.  A special request by Melody, since it makes it super special when she twirls and spins to the music. Did we mention she likes to twirl, well the girl can twirl!

The dress looks smashing by itself, but then again Melody makes anything look cute! As something warm for the cooler months we made her some booties and a matching tunic vest. They are custom made for her out of a cotton blend, and so soft to the touch! When her hands aren't busy tapping to the music, they are rubbing her cute little belly and twisting her thumbs in the gaps in between the crochet stitches.

She loves her booties because she slides along her hardwood floor so easily while spinning since they are so slippery!

 Melody has the most thick, amazing hair! A mix of brown shades with some black highlights that accent her coloring, a true mix of variegated thick thin wool yarn.  Also made using our pattern here

It can be worn down, or up, tied with a bow of course. Especially necessary to keep her hair tidy whilst she dances!

Melody is a special girl~like all of the Windfall Dolls, and we hope you like her too!

This giveaway is ONLY open to people who have been displaced, or largely effected by Hurricane Sandy.

It saddens us to mention this, but we just want to be clear.  Please do not comment if you are planning on selling this doll.  She is meant to go to a family who will appreciate her.  It would break our hearts if she was given to someone with poor intentions.

  4. We were fortunate in Hurricane Sandy. We only lost all of the food in our refrigerator and my son's computer was fried by the electrical serges. I feel blessed to have so little damage when so many others have been devastated. If I win this doll I will give it to my friend's little girl. Little Miss Melody needs someone to cheer her up. While her mother is struggling with breast cancer, the family suffered from so much loss during the storm. Melody needs something to hang on to during this frightening time. This would be a blessing for her.

  5. i would like to enter this for my friend Brianne Brianne lives in Point Pleasant New Jersey and was very much affected by Hurricane Sandy...although her home wasn't destroyed her town was pretty devastated. With all that going on, she is also fighting breast cancer right now! She was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in May. She recently completed chemo, and had surgery a few days ago to remove the remaining cancer. She'll be home in 3-4 days and then begins radiation. She has two little girls, her youngest daughter 3 years (i believe) is actually named Melody!! As soon as i saw your giveaway i knew i just had to win this for her. :)

    ps. i shared this giveaway with a few of our mutual friends,so don't be surprised if several folks enter for her! LIke Kathi above! :) Hope that is okay!

  6. I would like to enter for my sister-in-law Megan whose daughter is turning one this month. She and her family (two boys, a girl, and her husband) lost their house in Toms River, NJ after Sandy--and most of their possessions got destroyed by the ocean that sat in their house for quite some time. They are currently all five living in the living room of the husband's mother, waiting for FEMA assistance and to find a place to temporarily live until the house can be torn down and rebuilt. Apparently, the entire block will be razed. molly (dot) sutton (dot) kiefer at gmail (dot) com.

  7. I'm entering for Brianne as well! Thankfully, her house made it through....but the area is devastated. Their family has been through so much and I'm sure her daughter Melody would love a companion.

  8. I am entering for Brianne as well. She's been an AMAZING ray of light for her community, constantly posting help for people on FB. Like, where to get a hot meal, where to pick up some groceries. Where you can go charge your cell phones, and helping find shelter and refuge for those in her neighborhood displaced by Sandy. Brianne is a seriously strong woman, but her children are being affected as well, by her battle with cancer. This Melody doll would bring some sunshine into her children's lives. Thanks for your sweet offer. terrapinmoon at gmail dot com

  9. I am entering for Brianne also :c) She is a super strong mama with 2 little girls & Im sure they would LOVE to give this doll a loving home as they recover from both the storm & a struggle with breast cancer. (((((((((hugs)))))))))) to all who are effected by Sandy & the struggles of life in general. <3

  10. Another entry for Brianne,(see entries above) one amazing and strong mama/woman who has been through so much! andreahutch79 at aol dot com
