::Windfall Doll Giveaway:: Meet Marabel

Welcome to our third large Windfall Doll giveaway!

Four times a year we will be holding a seasonal giveaway of one of our larger Waldorf Inspired Dolls.  Each monthly doll's name will be inspired by the month in which they were created.
::::

For our Spring Windfall Doll giveaway, we would like to introduce you to Marabel.

:: Marabel:: Beautiful star of the sea

::A bit about Marabel::

Marabel is my sweetheart.  She and I have been together for months, deciding what to wear, what colors her eyes would be, how big of a smile she would have.  This past month we got all of the details together, shook hands, and made a plan.

Below you will get to know Marabel and why it is that I love her so much.

Marabel is a good girl.  She is always looking to help around the house and especially likes to get her hands into my sewing supplies.    My stash of vintage wooden thread spools drew her eye almost immediately once I took her out of the doll closet.

She told me that the colors of them remind her of treats.  "Really yummy shiny sweet treats."  She likes to chose a few spools to play with while she visits with me while I make other dolls.  Stacking them up as high as she can.

And her patience.  I seriously need to take lessons from her before she leaves me.

Even when a new Lillipal asks to join in the fun and accidentaly topples over her tower.  Little Miss Marabel simply pats her on the head and tells her...

 " It's OK little one.  Just wait until Mama sews you some beautiful eyes like mine.  Then you will build even taller towers.  All the way to the sky. "

::The Details::

Her hair is enormous and lovely and pretty.  It is the loveliest shades of purple in two different weights of wool.

Marabel asked me for a hair-do that would keep the hairs out of her face while she helps in the sewing room.  Inspired ever so slightly by my idol ( the amazing Fabs at Fig and Me ), I obliged by making a tiny french plait at the top of her head.

She said that it would do just fine.

Her wardrobe is handmade as always.   The dress is made using our new pattern.

We needed to add a little something special to Marabel's outfit, so we upcycled a pretty eyelet bedskirt and turned it into a lovely apron for her to dry her little hands on.

She complains that her feet are always too, too, too hot, so I crocheted her some little sandals using a creamy white worsted wool yarn.

She requested a shawl, so that she could be sure to stay warm wherever it was that her new home would be.  I ended up making one from an antique doily and added a  vintage button to close it.

If you are interested in having Marabel join your family, please let us know what it is that you love about her and how you will make her a part of your family.

Also, please become a follower of this blog and leave a comment at the end of this post. The giveaway will be open for one week.  We will randomly choose a winner on April 6th and we will contact the winner via email.

Be sure to leave your email address in your comment so that we can contact you!

For an extra chance to win:

It saddens us to mention this, but we just want to be clear.  Please do not comment if you are planning on selling this doll.  She is meant to go to a family who will appreciate her.  It would break our hearts if she was given to someone with poor intentions.

  1. She's so lovely that's difficult to choose just one feature... Her hair is beautiful, of course, but I love her apron as well... and that she is so sweet for the little ones.

  6. She is lovely - the richness of the colours in her hair and clothes add to the sweetness and simplicty of her face. We would love it if she could come and make her home with us, as we live not to far from the sea ourselves and would love to share our visits to the ocean with her. lizaahern at gmail dot com. 11. She is a doll! Really! I LOVE her hair, and I have a little girl that would love to help her stack vintage spools (I have several). She really is precious!!! I am amazed that you would let her go, but I promise that if she comes to my home we'd take great care of her! Maybe she could help me in my sewing room, too? Wonder if she likes buttons as well? My daughter would tell her all about colors; that's how we learn - with sewing supplies (my daughter is 2.5 yrs old).

  12. I would love to share this sweet girl with my 5 girls! The oldest 2 claim to be too old for dolls. I bet Marabel would teach them what I've been trying to teach them...that you're never too old to play with dolls!

    Thank you for the chance to win.

  16. The sea is where my daughter and I find peace. Adding Marabel to those excursions would be so much fun. When I showed my daughter a picture of Marabel she said" oh, I want to be her big sister". I think my favorite part about Marabel is her arms are wide enough to hug. Thank you! verdemojo@gmail.com

  17. Marabel, star of the sea, is so beautiful. Everything about her, from her lavender eyes to her slippered feet, brings a sense of love and calm. She would be adored by all five our children, big and small. Marabel would come along on many adventures by the sparkling sea and after we came came to wash the sand from our toes, she would be snuggled in bed with many loving little ones beside her. Thank you for sharing Marabel's sweet story with us.

  20. What a wonderful, sweet giveaway doll. She is quite beautiful. I immediately pictured her sitting here with me sipping tea beside the fire on cool evenings. She seems just the perfect lady to cozy up with.

  21. I love, love love her hair and eyes. The way she is different from all the others and marching tom the beat of her own drum. She would make a great first doll for our first child due this year!

  22. Marabel is a beautiful girl. I think that she would get a long quite well with my Henry. Henry is my most favorite baby in the whole world, which makes sense because he is my one and only son. Henry is 13 months old, and just beginning to really show his personality. Henry seems to be the opposite of Marabel; he's a bit stubborn and impatient at times. I think that Marabel would be a good influence on Henry. Like Marabel, Henry loves sweets (especially cupcakes with pretty frosting) and he has A LOT of hair (but his is brown, not purple). Thank you for making beautiful dolls.

  25. Oh we would love for Miss Marabel to come live with us and join our family. I showed her to my daughter and she said that she reminded her on the nice nurse who helped her in the hospital (she recently had viral meningitis). The nurse had streaks of purple in her hair! I see Marabel becoming our resident dolly nurse.

    We follow your blog as well :)

  26. My little girl Donna is the best 2 year old mommy ever! She adores her babies, lovingly feeding and burping them. She makes sure each one has a blanket and rocks them to sleep singing "rock a bye baby". She also insists that they each have a binky just like she does. Sweet Marabel would have the happiest of lives if she chose Donna as her mommy! She would love all the adventures we would have, we even have a little stroller for her to ride in on our long walks to the playground. She would be plenty warm on the way because she has her little shawl. Donna is little old soul who would be forever grateful for being chosen to be Marabel's new mommy.

    Thank you for this wonderful thing you do. The world needs more people who just want to spread happiness while asking nothing in return.

    Many Blessings,
    Julia (Donna's Mom)

  28. I love the fact that her hair makes her look a bit like a rebel. I can't have anymore children and my son would love a brother or sister. He understands why he can't but at 5 I am sure he would make her the sister he can't have.

  29. I love Marabel's hair and beautiful face especially her eyes. She would become the beloved companion of either my oldest or youngest daughter, loved, hugged and kissed throughout the day. Thank you for such a generous and inspiring gesture.

  30. Well there's her perfect shoes. Her gorgeous hair. And those eyes that speak a 1000 words...
    Your description of Marabel reminds me of my youngest (turning 4 on the 4th April). He has my little shadow, helping with the cleaning, keen to craft alongside me and has enough patience to do 'adult' sized puzzles. I know he would love the addition of his own 'baby' to our home. I think we all would.

  36. I have loved dolls all my life, and my favourite doll was made of felt. I think I wore it out when I was about 8.My house was decluttered last year, as my friends helped me, when my daughter was ill. I now only have a few dolls, and would love to add Marabel to my world. Yes, I am old, but does that make me less of a doll lover?
    With 5 brothers, dolls were my babies, my sisters. Love them still

  41. I LOVE her eye color and matching hair!!! She is just gorgeous.

    We have a 2 1/2 year old girl and a 1 1/2 year old girl....they would just ADORE Maribel. They are ALL about babies right now-giving them bottles, tea, putting them in their rocker, and holding them oh so gently. Only their babies are just plastic store bought babies that they've received as gifts. Maribel would definitely be loved and nurtured with our girls :)

  43. Her hair, need I say more? The print on her dress is my newest love. My four girls all swooned upon seeing her sweet face. The youngest (15 months) squealed in delight. The oldest (12) wonders how to make one herself and wandered off to her sewing table, full of inspiration. The 10 year old marvels over the delicate nose. The 4 year old wants to sleep with her tonight. I am sorry that I do not have a blog to share the beauty of your dolls on, sigh, some day I will start one. I have followed on Rhythm of the Home, I will now follow here! Brandi treebeard@tehama.net
